my previous post made me think about the concept of the 'effortless' look. i must admit that i'm a big fan of the effortless look, but when it comes time to actually execute it, it's near impossible. all that sea-spray, hair mousse, brown mascara, bronzer, nude lipgloss, face mist, self tanner, pale nail polishes, does that seem effortless? washing your hair using special shampoo and conditioner, air drying half your hair, blow drying the rest whilst upside down, then massaging hair mousse into the ends before it dries completely before spraying roots with sea water spray just to make it look like you just got out of bed. whatever happen to just getting out of bed to get an authentic "i just got out of bed" look? and thats just effortless hair. then theres make-up. so you want an effortless make-up? better start early because you need to get that "natural" glowing skin by using a quadrillion products to make your face look like it's been mass produced, because that's effortless right? and then don't even think about just quickly putting on a coat of mascara. noo, you need to perfect the art of the effortless eye as well. this involves not too little but not too much eyeliner, needs to be smudged but not smokey. try to make it look like you just quickly did it running out the door this morning, but oh noo, you actually have to stand in front of the mirror for hours.
so see, in the end, the "effortless" look is everything but effortless.
